God created the world for us to live in and to enjoy. However, our enjoyment of the things God has provided for us is involved in a constant competition between our love for the things of the world and our love for Christ and the gospel. This struggle manifests itself in three areas; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These things are not from God but from the world which is passing away.
