- The Banishment of Cain
- Genesis 4:8-16
- Cain's guilt was such that God would no longer allow him to be sustained by the land. This was, for a farmer, the worst of curses. Instead he would be sent out to the land of wandering, a desert where crops would not grow. Yet God showed some mercy even to an unrepentant Cain, granting him protection as one made in the image of God.
