- Understanding the Way the Devil Tempted Adam and Eve
- Genesis 3:1-6
- The Devil's approach to Eve in the garden was a multi-pronged assault on the authority of God. A beast of the field sought to instruct mankind, he approached the wife rather than the husband, he undermined God's word, and he finally attacked God's authority directly. Adam and Eve were encouraged to act as gods unto themselves, breaking free from the constraints of God's morality. This was of course the great lie; there could be no freedom apart from obedience.
