- Simeon was a leader among the remnant in Israel: the few who were waiting for God to fulfil His promises. When he saw the infant Jesus, he knew those promises had been fulfilled. But he did not just prophecy that Jesus would establish peace with God; he also foretold the division which would come as a result of the gospel message.
