- Paul's address to the Ephesian elders defines not only the task of elders but also its urgency. Christ has obtained a church which He loves, but that church remains in a dangerous world. He has appointed elders as the defenders of that church. If they love Christ, they must love His church, and they must take care that they are diligent in its defense.
